For interested mentors, judges, and sponsors email team@joinstemist.org 

Cross Submissions are allowed for hackathons provided they both satisfy event rules, and are created within hackathon work hours.

For Middle Schoolers under the age of 13, have a parent sign up for the account and register for the hackathon and submit on your behalf. 

Projects must be created within the hackathon time frame.

We also encourage participants to sign up for multiple tracks.

About the challenge

Welcome to STEMist Hacks IV where you can create projects to win prizes. Throughout the hackathon, you will also have the opportunity to learn and meet others at our various workshops. We welcome hackers of all levels.

This hackathon is open to all high school and middle school students. Solo and teams up to 4 are allowed. We encourage participants to make anything STEM related, whether that's code, CAD, or hardware. 

Projects are encouraged to follow one or more of the categories, but are not required to do so. Projects not following a specific category are not eligible to win those prizes, and are only eligible for best overall prizes.

July 31st
6-6:30 PM: Day 1 Opening Ceremony
7:00 PM: Submissions Open

August 1st

Build Your Tiny GPT Workshop (9 AM - 9:30 AM Pacific) - Ravi Pandey (Co-Founder Masterji Classes)

From Video Games to AI Agents (10 AM - 10:45 AM Pacific) - Saylee Mhatre (Lead Engineer @ EA)

Design for speed, reliability, edge cases, and cloud-cost efficiency (11 AM Pacific) - Ashok Kumar (Tech Lead @ Walmart Global Tech)

8:30 PM: Skribbl.io Game Night

August 2nd

4-7:30 PM: Judging Period
8:00-9:00 PM: Closing Ceremony

As part of our event, participants will also have access to qualified mentors from the industry for any support needed while working on projects over the course of the weekend.

• Originality
  Was this project creative or was it a commonly thought of problem and solution? How was the project executed?
• Effort
  Does this project appear to have taken a large portion of the given time? Does it seem a lot of thought and brainstorming went into creating the project?
• Impact
  If released to the public, what changes will it cause? If this project receives funding, is it realistic that it can be effectively implemented in society? Does it solve the problem that the team points out?
• Project Condition
  Does the project work? Are there any cases where the project fails/crashes? Are there a large number of bugs that drastically worsen the functionality of the project?
